Since learning about the family’s goal, Hope wanted to start contributing to it even though she was still a child. Fishing was her favourite hobby next to reading. She loved going out to the nearby river to fish before school.
She was so good at it that she always managed to catch at least 3 fishes within an hour. Emmett joined her for a couple of mornings. He didn’t seem to have the knack for it the way she did. He rarely caught anything except for algae covered logs and that was if he managed to pull up anything at all.
Within a couple of days, it was time for Hope and Lilly’s birthday.
Hope took after her mother while Lilly strongly resembled Paolo. It was like she was Paolo’s younger, female twin.
Upon aging up, Lilly discovered a love for cooking and knew already that she wanted to be a master chef.
Hope continued fishing having developed a greater love for the outdoors than she had when she was younger.
She managed to catch a few excellent catches and displayed them on the wall of her bedroom.
During one of her fishing trips Hope found a cowberry seed. She didn’t know what it was at first but after doing some research she learned it was a very rare carnivorous plant. Richard had the idea to plant it, wondering if the cow plant would bear expensive fruit or something. Finally, the cow plant grew fully but no one was sure how to care for it. It seemed to never need water but it did need food and normal plant food would not do so one day Richard got the idea to feed it meat and that worked.
Rhiannon was uncomfortable with the cow plant in the yard. It always made her feel nervous every time she walked by the thing.
Some days the plant would dangle a slice of cake from its tongue almost like it was trying to tempt someone to try to take it to lure them into a trap. Richard assured everyone to ignore the plant but Rhiannon was concerned that Elliot might not be able to resist since her son had quite a sweet tooth.
Rhiannon’s concerns were soon put to rest when one morning they all discovered that the cow plant died. No one knows for sure what happened. Richard wondered if his wife had anything to do with it but he never asked.
The store continued to be a success. Richard’s paintings were flying off the walls. The demand for paintings was growing so he took it upon himself to enlist some helpers.
Since Hope and Lilly were anxious to contribute to the family challenge he decided to let them build their painting skill so their works could be sold in the store as well.
