Day 36 – Sunday

Esther enters a novice gaming tournament hoping to earn some extra cash. The registration cost was §20 and after a couple hours of gaming she got bumped out of the competition when she couldn’t make it into the top ten highest scores in order to go on to the next level. She was a little disappointed but soon moved on to working on a plugin and ends up earning §14 for her work.

Richard seemed to really enjoy collecting. He spent the entire day roaming around the neighbourhood collecting fossils and gems. Darius was very proud of his son for trying to contribute to the family’s wealth at such a young age.

Day 37 – Monday

Esther received a promotion to Ace Engineer which brought with it more money and better work hours which would allow her to spend more time with the children before their bedtime.

Day 38 – Tuesday

Darius returned home feeling stressed out because his tardiness that morning resulting in him missing a meeting with his supervisor and an important client which ultimately cost him a chance at a promotion.

In spite of this, he started feeling confident once he entered his study and began working on a new painting. The result was a masterpiece that was worth a lot of simoleons and it helped him max his skill. Darius could now call himself a master painter. He now knew everything he needed to know about the painting skill.

Esther had also been working too hard and not taking care of herself so she came down with the flu. Good thing she had a fast-relieving tonic at hand otherwise she would not have been able to cook dinner and practice coding for work the next day all in one night.

After carefully weighing the options he came to a decision that he thought was best. He ends up choosing the Master of the Real Branch and assumed the position of Artist En Residence.

Day 41 – Friday

Darius came down with the flu so he takes some medicine to cure his ailments. He feels so much better so now he can spend his day off  work cranking out a few paintings.

It is his birthday so when Esther returns home she bakes a chocolate for him to celebrate with. As he blows out the candles on his birthday cake Darius makes a wish. He knows that by becoming an elder that means his days are numbered and since he is a long way from completing his goal of earning 1 million simoleons, he makes a wish for his children to one day complete his goal.

Richard and Daria celebrate with him and so does Esther but she is in a foul mood. She asked Daria and Richard to clean up before the party and when she sees a pile of scrap on the ground she realises they didn’t. They were going to be in a whole lot of trouble.

Now that he was an elder, Darius thought a lot about his future or rather the fact that his future might end up being a lot shorter than he would like. As confident as he was in his children’s ability to take over for him, he didn’t want to leave them with too much of a burden. His paintings were selling for a lot of money. He can make more money from selling one painting than from one day of work or even from selling a days’ worth of produce and collected items so that was where his focus needed to be.

Darius realised he had to reconsider his career and whether or not he wanted to continue working for the rest of his life or retire and spend his remaining days in the comfort of his home painting and being able to spend more time with his children and his wife.
